Sam plummeted/fell/crashed to the ground with a loud/sharp/painful thud/sound/crash.

His New Friend
Sam was having a little down. He wanted to have a new friend to play with. One day, while he was playing in the yard, he noticed something unusual. It was a little creature with glowing fur. Sam slowly approached the creature and asked, "Hello! What's your name?" The creature smiled and replied Sam, "You can call me Lily!" And so, Sam made a new mate. They spent the rest of the day talking together.
Sam was so happy to have found a new friend. He knew that he and Lily would be close buddies forever.
